Personality Disorders
Inflexible, maladaptive personality traits that significantly impair social and occupational functioning.

What you need to know about personality disorders.
Personality disorders exist when personality traits are inflexible and maladaptive and cause either significant impairment in social or occupational functioning or subjective distress. They include borderline, schizoid, paranoid, antisocial, and obsessive-compulsive personality disorders, among others.
The Social Security Administration evaluates personality disorders under specific mental impairment listings. Approval requires documented evidence of pervasive and persistent disturbance, plus marked limitations in functional areas such as interacting with others, concentrating, or adapting to change.
We work with mental health providers to document the long-standing nature of the impairment and the way it limits the ability to sustain full-time work.
